Hygge at Clifton Café

The café at the end of the road

Having spent many years watching families, fisherfolk, and travellers venture to the end of Clifton’s dead-end road to check out the surf or to lay a picnic rug.  Angus and Dinah Gordon saw the opportunity to create Clifton’s first beachside café and large function centre.

In 1999 the idea was bought to life and the café was built and opened to the public - fast becoming a popular weekend seaside location and iconic Hawke’s Bay spot to grab a bite to eat.

Fast forward 20 years and the legacy of Clifton Café continues, known today as ‘Hygge at Clifton Bay’. Current business owners Kerry and Robyn Brannigan are making the most of the panoramic views of Cape Kidnappers and the rustic woolshed setting, creating delicious food with exceptional service.
