Clifton Bay Cafe, in it’s idyllic beach front setting, commands the most spectacular views across Hawke’s Bay, the perfect venue for your wedding.

Built in 1999 in the front paddock of  Clifton Station, the cafe is architecturally similar to that of the old station buildings: there are large airy indoor and outside dining areas and a large entrance room suitable for dancing; a variety of spaces in which everyone can enjoy the various phases of your very important day, including the  marriage ceremony. 

Our excellent team of staff look forward to providing the professional help and service that will make your wedding a memorable and happy occasion. 

The cafe venue is not available for the actual wedding until 4pm on the day.  

• Seating Capacity: 50 to 150 People.
• Venue Hire/Deposit: A non-refundable sum of $500.
• This secures the date of your wedding booking. 

The venue hire charge covers:

• Loss of Cafe income for the hours  ‘closed for trade’  in order to set up the venue
  for your wedding.
• All consultation with the Manager and other members of staff.
• Full set up of the venue, utilising the equipment of the cafe, according to the
  clients directions.
• All staff.
• Cleaning of the cafe premises after the wedding. (Except in the case of
  excessive debris). 
• All other costs including: the cake, table linen, name cards, entertainment
  transport, flowers and photographer will be at your cost. 

We are happy to supply the names of excellent businesses and people who can provide any of the listed services.  

Catering: Included in the pack are some of the menus that we offer, either Buffet or Set Menu.

Our Events Manager will discuss these with you and in consultation with our Chef make adjustments to suit your individual requirements.

Substitutions to the menu may result in price changes.

We are pleased to be able to offer an excellent variety of Hawke’s Bay’s wonderful fresh produce. Because many weddings are booked one or two years in advance clients will find that the Menus, which are rewritten seasonally, will have changed.

Confirmation of the menu will be 6 months prior to the booked date.   

Beverages: The Cafe is licensed with full bar facilities. We have a comprehensive range of beers, Spirits, Liqueurs, juices and non-alcoholic drinks.

Our wine list is drawn predominantly from Hawke’s Bay Wineries. 

A full list is enclosed. The list and the prices are subject to change as our menu is rewritten seasonally. We recognise that people may want to have wines that are not on our list and we are happy to procure them for your wedding.

A minimum of $15 per person must be spent on the bar. (BYO is not accepted).

You may make arrangements with the management, prior to your wedding, that you purchase and bring the wine only and pay a set tariff per person.  

Final Numbers

We ask that final numbers be confirmed 7 days before the wedding date. This is the number of meals that will be charged to your account.

• Children under the age of 12 will be charged half price.
• Payment is full is to be made at the conclusion of the evening.
• Arrival and departure times are arranged at the time of booking.
• The cafe is not available before 4pm.  

Breakage/Damage/Extra cleaning Duties

Should any of the above occur, particularly the breakage of glassware, additional charges will be incurred.

• Prices may be confirmed 6 months prior to the date of your wedding.
• All prices are GST inclusive.
